Alebrije are a type of Mexican folk art, they're intricately detailed and colorful sculptures made from mostly either Oaxacan Opal wood or paper mache! Alebrije originally depicted chimeras or a combination of different animals fused together, however it's not uncommon to see regular animals presented in this style.

While armadillos originate in South America the nine banded Armadillo has made it's way into Mexico and is currently expanding it's territory further into North America!
